Eagles soar past Palm Beach in state tournament

After losing the first two sets today, the Polk State Eagles soared back to win the next three, defeating Palm Beach State College to stay alive in the FCSAA State/NJCAA District Volleyball Tournament in Bradenton, Fla.

With the win, the Eagles advance to play Daytona State today at 5 p.m.

Polk State lost 25-21 and 27-25 to open the match.

They then rallied to win 25-19, 25-23 and 15-6.  

"I'm very proud of the way we played today," said Head Coach German Del Valle.

"We played good defense. That's where we stepped up today. We also maintained the mental part of the game better today than we did yesterday

Yue Wu led the Eagles with 20 digs, 17 kills, a block, and an ace.

Cristina Castillo recorded 52 assists, 11 digs, a kill, a block, and an ace.

Kathya Garcia made 27 kills, 13 digs, six aces, three assists, and two blocks.

Anilise Fitzi contributed nine kills, a block, an assist, and a dig.
 
Alejandra Sanabria had six blocks and a kill.

Keisha Santana tallied 13 digs, four assists, and a pair of aces.

Dominika Nemcova added three kills, a dig, and a block.

Aurora Alderman made five digs, and Nicole Boots finished with two digs.
