Eagles finish third at national championship tournament

Sixth-seed Polk State defeated eighth-seed Santa Fe College 3-1 to win third place at the NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball Championship tournament in Casper, Wyo. 

After winning the first set 25-22, the Eagles dropped the second set 22-25.They then soared back to win the next two sets, 25-17 and 25-13. 

Yue Wu led the Eagles with 22 kills and 17 digs. 

Cristina Castillo recorded 49 assists, 14 digs, and a kill. 

Kathya Garcia made 19 digs, seven kills, a block, and an assist. 

Keisha Santana tallied 17 digs, five assists, and an ace. 

Anilise Fitzi added 14 kills and a dig. 

Alejandra Sanabria had five kills. 

Dominika Nemcova made seven kills while Veronika Nemcova added two kills. 

Nicole Boots finished with nine digs. 

Aurora Alderman had a dig and an ace, and Kaylee Gartino added a kill. 

Polk State (No. 2 FCSAA) ends the season 27-8.
