Eagles go 1-1 in Fort Pierce

After splitting a pair of matches yesterday in Melbourne, Fla., Polk State volleyball went 1-1 today in Fort Pierce, Fla. 

The Eagles lost their first match today to Miami Dade College (No. 1 FCSAA, No. 1 NJCAA). 

After dropping the first set 14-25, Polk State stepped up and played three close sets, going 22-25, 25-21, and 25-27. 

Kathya Garcia made 10 kills, seven digs, two blocks, an assist, and an ace. 

Nicky Pio had 37 assists, five kills, four digs, two blocks, and an ace.

Diana Carranza finished with 20 digs, two assists, and an ace. 

Chiara Bosetti recorded five digs, four kills, a pair of aces, a block, and an assist. 

Anilise Fitzi added 17 kills, three blocks, and two digs. 

Dominika Nemcova contributed two kills, two assists, a block, a dig, and an ace. 

Alexa Barral made four kills and four blocks. 

Kaylee Gartino had two kills, a block, a dig, and an ace. 

When the Eagles returned to the court this afternoon they defeated Indian River State College 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-14). 

Pio again led the Eagles in assists with 24, along with 10 digs, two blocks, two kills, and an ace. 

Garcia reached double figures in kills (12), digs (11), and added three blocks. 

Carranza made 19 digs, three assists, and three aces. 

Fitzi contributed six kills, four blocks, and four digs. 

Aurora Alderman added four digs, an assist, and a pair of aces. 

Bosetti recorded two kills, two digs, and a block. 

Barral finished with two blocks and a kill. 

Dominika Nemcova had a kill and a block. 

The Eagles (3-2, No. 2 FCSAA, No. 4 FCSAA) travel to Tampa Tuesday for a 6 p.m. match against Hillsborough Community College.
