Eagles soar past Lakehawks for fourth straight win

The Polk State Eagles earned their fourth consecutive win last night, defeating Lake-Sumter State College 3-1 in Leesburg, Fla. 

After the Eagles took the first set 26-24, the Lakehawks responded with a 25-19 win in the second. Polk State then bounced back to win the next two sets, 25-20 and 25-16. 

Kathya Garcia led the Eagles with 21 kills, 11 digs, and an ace. 

Chiara Bosetti made 21 digs, an assist, and an ace. 

Nicky Pio had 29 assists, six digs, two kills, two blocks, and an ace. 

Weiying Wu contributed eight kills and a block. 

Anilise Fitzi added nine kills, four digs, two blocks, and a pair of aces. 

Manuela Vargas finished with 15 assists, two digs, and two aces. 

Diana Carranza had 13 digs and an assist. 

Aurora Alderman recorded six digs, an assist, and an ace. 

Alexa Barral made four kills, a block, and an ace. 

Kaylee Gartino tallied three kills, two blocks, and a dig. 

Veronika Nemcova had two kills, a block and a dig, while Dominika Nemcova added two digs and a block. 

The Eagles (6-2, No. 4 FCSAA) return to action Tuesday against College of Central Florida at 7 p.m. in Winter Haven.
