Winning streak ends as Eagles fall to Falcons

Polk State saw its seven-game winning streak end tonight as the Eagles lost to Daytona State 0-3 (21-25, 22-25, 22-25). 

With the loss, the Eagles move into a first-place tie with Daytona State in the Mid-Florida Conference. 

"We've been playing good volleyball," said Head Coach German Del Valle. 

"I don't think we played horrible tonight, but we missed too many serves and Daytona State played better than us."   

Manuela Vargas led the Eagles in assists with 17. She also made six digs. 

Kathya Garcia had 12 digs, 11 kills, and an ace. 

Nicky Pio recorded 15 assists, two digs, and a block. 

Anilise Fitzi made six kills and four blocks. 

Chiara Bosetti added eight kills, six digs, and a block. 

Veronika Nemcova contributed four kills, three blocks, and a dig. 

Weiying Wu finished with two blocks, a dig, and a kill. 

Aurora Alderman had three digs, while Kaylee Gartino added a kill and a block. 

The Eagles (9-3, 3-1, No. 2 FCSAA, No. 19 NJCAA) look to bounce back Thursday against Eastern Florida (No. 10 FCSAA) at 7 p.m. in Winter Haven.
