Two days after seeing their seven-game winning streak end, the Polk State Eagles bounced back tonight, defeating Eastern Florida 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-17) in Winter Haven.
"We came back tonight to play good volleyball," said Head Coach German Del Valle.
"We didn't play bad volleyball last time, but you have to come and do what we did today," he said.
"I told the team that on nights like tonight if you don't come and play you're A game then your opponent will. Eastern Florida never quit, but I think we controlled the game and everybody contributed to the win."
Polk State is tied for first in the Mid-Florida Conference with three conference matches left to play.
"From now on we have to play good," said Del Valle. "There's no option."
Kathya Garcia led the Eagles with 13 kills, eight digs, a block, and a pair of aces.
Nicky Pio made 24 assists along with three kills, two blocks, two digs, and a pair of aces.
Manuela Vargas added 11 assists and six digs.
Anilise Fitzi contributed five kills and a block.
Aurora Alderman finished with 10 digs, an assist, and an ace.
Diana Carranza had 13 digs and a pair of aces.
Kaylee Gartino made five kills, five blocks, and a dig.
Weiying Wu tallied five kills, four digs, and a block.
Veronika Nemcova had six kills, a block, and a dig.
Chiara Bosetti added seven digs, a kill, and an assist.
Alexa Barral totaled three kills, two digs, and an ace.
Dominika Nemcova made two digs and a kill.
The Eagles (10-3, 4-1, No. 2 FCSAA, No. 16 NJCAA) play Lake-Sumter State College on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Winter Haven.
