Eagles fall to No. 1 Miami Dade at state tournament

Polk State fought hard but fell to Miami Dade College 0-3 (17-25, 19-25, 19-25) this afternoon at the NJCAA District/FCSAA State Volleyball Tournament in Bradenton.

The defending NJCAA national champion, Miami Dade is undefeated this season and ranked No. 1 NJCAA and No. 1 FCSAA.

With the loss, the Eagles (14-7, 7-2, No. 4 FCSAA) play Central Florida tomorrow at noon in the double-elimination tournament.

For the Eagles, Kathya Garcia had eight kills, three aces, and a block.

Manuela Vargas recorded 15 assists, three digs, and an ace.

Chiara Bosetti made six kills, five digs, and a block.

Diana Carranza finished with nine digs and an assist.

Anilise Fitzi added four kills and two blocks.

Alexa Barral had three blocks and a kill 

Veronika Nemcova contributed two kills and two blocks. 

Nicky Pio made seven digs, and Aurora Alderman added three.
