The Polk State Eagles have earned a spot in the NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball Championship tournament for the fourth straight year.

With a 3-0 win tonight against Hillsborough Community College in Bradenton, the Eagles put themselves in position to end the FCSAA State/NJCAA District Tournament as either state champions or as district representatives.

The Eagles (16-7, 7-2, No. 4 FCSAA) play St. Petersburg College tomorrow at 11 a.m.  The winner takes on Miami Dade College for the state championship.

"Going to the national tournament is an opportunity to play with the best teams in the nation," said Head Coach German Del Valle.

"We plan to take advantage of that opportunity and see what we can do."

Earning that opportunity wasn't easy, said Del Valle.

"We had to go through so much this season, including injuries," he said.

"At the beginning of the season we were not the best team in our conference, but because of our togetherness and concern for each other we have come this far.

"That's something we talk about the first day of practice -- love and respect. That's what got us here."

The Eagles defeated Hillsborough 25-19, 25-12, and 25-14.

Chiara Bosetti made nine digs, eight kills, one block, and three aces.

Kathya Garcia had five kills, two digs, a block, and three aces.
