Kathya Garcia earns All-America honors

Kathya Garcia of Polk State volleyball received All America honors for the 2017 season.

A sophomore from Chihuahua, Mexico, Garcia was named to the Two-Year College All-America Third-Team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.  

She also earned Second-Team All-America honors for the 2016 season. 

Garcia helped lead the Eagles to a fifth-place finish in the 2017 NJCAA Division 1 Women's Volleyball Championship in Hutchison, Kan. 

For the season, she led the Eagles in kills (315), kills-per-set (3.21), and aces (40). 

She was named Polk State Female Athlete of the Year, Mid-Florida Conference Player of Year and earned FCSAA All State team and First Team All-Mid-Florida Conference.

Garcia plans to continue her academic and athletic career at the University of San Francisco.
