Eagles finish Texas tournament 4-0

Polk State won two more matches today to finish 4-0 at the Lee College Invitational in Baytown, Texas.

 

The Eagles (No. 3 FCSAA, No. 18 NJCAA) started the day with a 3-0 win over Vernon College (25-8, 25-14, 25-17). 

Chiara Bosetti topped the team in kills (12), adding seven digs, a block, and a pair of aces.

Alexa Barral, Aixa Vigil, and Weiying Wu each made eight kills. 

Vanessa Tirollo had a team-high 13 assists to go with three digs and an ace.

Nayeli Vilchez contributed 11 assists, six digs, a block, and an ace.

Gregna Fuentes finished with 11 assists, seven digs, a block, and an ace. 

Hannah Forbes added seven digs, an assist, and three aces.

Nina Finderle made five kills, three digs, and a block. 

Diana Carranza tallied six digs, an assist, and an ace.

 

For the finale, Polk State knocked off Panola College (No. 6 NJCAA) 3-1. After taking the first two sets 25-17 and 25-13, the Eagles dropped the third set 29-31 before soaring back to win the fourth set 25-20.

Vilchez led the Eagles in assists with 35 to go with a kill and 11 digs.

Bosetti again led the team in kills (23) and made 15 digs.

Vigil reached double figures in digs (16) and kills (10).

Mariane Cassiano added nine kills, five digs, and a bock.

Carranza recorded 11 digs while Forbes had eight digs and two assists.

Wu tallied seven kills, four digs, and two blocks.

Fuentes contributed eight assists and six digs while Barral added two blocks and a kill.  

 

The Eagles (8-4) return to action next weekend when they play four matches at the Florida State College at Jacksonville tournament Friday and Saturday.
