Eagles ready for national tournament after winning District I Championship

Playing in today's state championship game, Polk State volleyball lost 3-1 to Miami Dade College (No. 1 FCSAA, No. 1 NJCAA, two-time defending national champions) in the final match of the NJCAAA District/FCSAA State Volleyball Tournament in Bradenton, Fla.  

The Eagles finish as state runner-up and NJCAA District I Champion, earning a berth in the NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball Championship beginning Nov. 15 in Hutchinson, Kansas.  

This marks the fifth straight year Polk State has qualified for the national tournament. 

The Eagles (21-6) head into the tournament ranked No. 2 in the state (FCSAA) and the nation (NJCAA D1). 

At the state tournament, the Eagles advanced to the championship game by defeating 

Richard Bland College and Santa Fe College by scores of 3-0 and Florida State College at Jacksonville 3-1.
