Eagles take two on first day in Daytona Beach

The undefeated Polk State Eagles (8-0) soared to two more wins today at the Daytona State College Volleyball Invitational in Daytona Beach.

 

Polk State began the day with a 3-1 victory over Santa Fe College (No. 8 FCSAA).  

After taking the first set 25-13, the Eagles dropped the second 18-25 then won the next two 25-19 and 25-16. 

Milexa Cardona made a team-high 44 assists, adding 12 digs, a kill, and a pair of aces. 

Manuela Ibarguen led the Eagles with 18 kills to go with 10 digs and a block.  

Aixa Vigil reached double figures in kills (16) and digs (10) while serving four aces. 

Suared Molina recorded 20 digs, four assists, a kill, and an ace. 

Mariane Cassiano contributed 10 digs, eight kills, and two assists. 

Nina Finderle made three kills, while Macarena Flores tallied two kills and a dig. 

Nicole Kuchma and Mariana Donado each finished with two aces and a dig. 

Valentina Bahamon made a kill and a block, and Keren Souza added a kill.

 

The Eagles ended the day by defeating Indian River State College (No. 7 FCSAA) 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-16).

 

Ibarguen made 16 kills, seven digs, and a pair of aces. 

Vigil had 10 digs, nine kills, two assists, and two aces. 

Cardona recorded 27 assists, six digs, two kills, and an ace. 

Souza contributed five kills, four digs, and two blocks. 

Bahamon finished with three kills, two blocks, and a dig. 

Molina made 12 digs and three assists. 

Kuchma had two digs, Finderle had two blocks, and Donado had two digs and an assist. 

 

The Eagles (No. 1 FCSAA, No. 2 NJCAA) face Pensacola State College and Palm Beach State College (No. 10 FCSAA) tomorrow on the final day of the Daytona State College Volleyball Invitational.
