Twice is nice: Eagles take two on road

Undefeated Polk State continued its winning ways today, beating Broward College and Palm Beach State College in Lake Worth, Fla., to improve to 13-0. 

 

The Eagles won 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-17) against Broward (No. 6 FCSAA).

Aixa Vigil led Polk State with 13 kills along with four digs and a block.

Milexa Cardona made 22 assists, four kills, three digs, and an ace.

Manuela Ibarguen recorded 10 kills, nine digs, and two assists.

Suared Molina had 10 digs and served four aces. 

Mariane Cassiano contributed seven digs, five kills, and a block.

Valentina Bahamon finished with three kills, two assists, a block, and a pair of aces.

Nina Finderle made three kills, three blocks, and a dig.

 

Against Palm Beach, the Eagles also posted a 3-0 victory, winning 25-21, 25-21, and 25-13. 

Molina recorded a team-high 12 digs. 

Vigil made 13 more kills and three digs, a block, an assist, and three aces. 

Ibarguen tallied 12 kills, five digs, and three aces. 

Cardona led in assists with 31, adding six digs, a kill, and a pair of aces. 

Nicole Kuchma had three digs, two aces, and an assist. 

Cassiano contributed eight kills, two digs, and an assist.

Bahamon made a kill and a block, Finderle added three kills, and Macarena Flores had a kill and an assist.

 

The Eagles (13-0, No. 1 FCSAA, No. 2 NJCAA) return to action Thursday against Hillsborough Community College (No. 4 FCSAA, No. 7 NJCAA) at 7 p.m. in Winter Haven.  

Polk State begins Mid-Florida Conference play Sept. 24 at Eastern Florida State College.
