Polk State took another step toward a state championship tonight, defeating Central Florida 3-1 in the NJCAA Regional/FCSAA State Volleyball Tournament in Jacksonville.

After dropping the first set, the Eagles soared back to win the next three.

"We stuck with the game plan," said Head Coach German Del Valle, "but Central Florida came to play. I did not lose it. I stayed in control. That was my game plan.

"We kept our composure and we stuck with the game plan and we played better volleyball than they did. "

The Eagles play the winner of tonight's Hillsborough-Miami Dade match tomorrow at 3 p.m.
