Eagles finish fourth at national volleyball championship

With a loss to Miami Dade yesterday, Polk State finished in fourth place in the NJCAA D1 Volleyball Championship in Hutchinson, Kan.  

Polk State is the only Florida school to compete in the NJCAA D1 Volleyball Championship for the last six years, finishing tenth, sixth, third, fifth, seventh, and fourth.  

Aixa Vigil earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team. In four matches she made 48 kills, 46 digs, and five aces.  

The Eagles end the season ranked No. 1 in NJCAA Region 8 with a 24-6 record.  

Against Miami Dade, Milexa Cardona had 18 assists and five digs. 

Aixa Vigil made 14 kills, eight digs, and an ace. 

Mariane Cassiano recorded six digs, three kills, and a pair of aces. 

Manuela Ibarguen added nine digs and five kills. 

Suared Molina finished with eight digs while Mariana Donado collected seven assists. 

Nina Finderle had three blocks and two kills, Valentina Bahamon made two kills and two blocks, and Keren Souza contributed two digs and a kill.
