Located in the heart of Florida, Polk State’s Winter Haven Health Center features a gymnasium floor unrivaled by any team in the country, and all the necessities for training athletes on the rise.

The nearly 30,000-square-foot Health Center is a focal point for not only Polk State, but Polk County as a whole. This quality, multi-purpose indoor facility accommodates NJCAA and high school athletics, and serves as a general-purpose assembly space for a variety of special events.

It is home to Polk’s elite men’s basketball and women’s volleyball programs, which have both won many championships since the Winter Haven Health Center opened.

Polk’s weight room, also housed in the Health Center, offers a positive, safe, challenging, and properly equipped training environment. The weight room allows coaches and athletes to work together to develop athletes’ full physical and mental potential.

The weight room offers all of Polk’s student-athletes free weights, weight machines, and cardiovascular machines —everything they need to improve their functional strength-training, sport-specific speed and agility, and sport-specific conditioning and flexibility.

The Health Center also has an official’s locker room, an athletic training room, coaches’ offices and meeting rooms. On the NJCAA level, the gymnasium quickly grabbed the attention of the nation when it hosted the 2010 NJCAA District/Region 8 Volleyball Tournament.

The Health Center is one example of how Polk State provides the finest facilities for its student-athletes, and thanks to its ample parking, high-quality sound system and scoreboard, and vibrant atmosphere, it also provides a wonderful experience for individuals who attend events as spectators.

From Tampa: Take I-275 N. Take exit 45B to merge onto I-4 E toward Orlando. Take exit 27 to merge onto FL-570 E toward Lakeland/Winter Haven. Take exit 17 for US-92 E. Turn left onto US-92 E. Slight right onto Havendale Blvd. Continue onto Ave T NW. Turn right onto 1st St N. Turn left onto Ave K NE. Turn right onto E Lake Martha Dr. Turn left onto Ave H NE.

From Miami: Take Florida’s Turnpike North to exit 193 and merge onto SR-60 W toward Lake Wales. Merge onto US-27 N toward Haines City. Turn left onto Dundee Rd/SR-542. Turn slight right onto E Lake Elbert Dr NE. Turn right on 10th St NE, then take first left onto Avenue H NE.

From Jacksonville: Take I-95 S. Merge onto I-4 W via exit 260B toward Orlando. Take exit 55 to merge onto US 27 S. Turn right onto Dundee Rd/SR-542. Turn slight right onto E Lake Elbert Dr NE. Turn right on 10th St NE, then take first left onto Avenue H NE.
