WINTER HAVEN – Polk State Baseball and Softball are entering their final month of the regular season, with 15 baseball games and 20 softball games on the docket for softball.

This week, Polk Baseball takes on University of Tampa (B) before battling Eastern Florida State College for another pivotal Citrus Conference series. Polk State Softball continues its challenging conference slate with a trio of doubleheaders, two of which are at home.

PREVIEW:

  • Polk State Baseball dropped two of three to RV Indian River State College last week -- the Eagles' first Citrus Conference loss since dropping a pair to Miami Dade College to end February and begin March.
  • Sophomore ace Aiden Butler is coming off a 4-0 March on the mound, where he logged 29 strikeouts over 27.1 innings and walked just five batters.
  • At the plate, Kelsen Johnson hit .471 (16-for-34) at the plate in March with 11 runs scored and six runs batted in.
  • The Titans have taken two out of three over their last two Citrus series, defeating St. Petersburg College and Florida SouthWestern State College.
  • Polk defeated Eastern Florida 5-3 in a non-conference exchange back on Feb. 8 in Winter Haven.

  • Polk Softball is looking to snap a streak of being swept in five consecutive Citrus series this week.
  • Jamie Reinhardt hit a team best .365 in the month of March, scoring nine runs and driving in four.
  • Veronica Fernandez knocked across a total of 11 runs in March, more than any of her teammates.
  • The Sharks have lost nine of their last 11 in Citrus play.
  • After back-to-back conference splits, College of Central Florida earned another Citrus sweep this past Saturday, dominating Hillsborough Community College with a pair of 13-1 victories.
  • The Saints are one of the hottest teams in the state, having won seven of their last eight conference contests.
