WINTER HAVEN – The month of May didn't feature a lot of action for Polk State Athletics, but one Polk State Softball infielder, however, ended her freshman season with a bang.

Kirsten Aldridge is the Eagle of the Month for May 2026 – the final honoree of the 2025-26 Academic Year. The Eagle of the Month is selected by the Polk State Athletics Eagle of the Month Committee.

In four games for Polk State in May, Aldridge went 6-for-13 with three doubles, three RBIs and a run scored. Her RBI double in the top of the seventh ignited an eight-run inning on May 4 as Polk State closed the regular season with a thrilling 11-5 win over College of Central Florida.

Previously recognized as a second-team All-Citrus Conference selection, Aldridge had a freshman season to remember. With a team-high 10 home runs, the Polk City native became the first Polk State player to reach double-digit homers since 2014.

Aldridge also led the Eagles in several other categories, including batting average (.356), RBIs (36), on-base percentage (.447) and slugging (.631). She tied for the team lead in doubles with 14.

Polk State finished 22-34 to put together consecutive 20-win seasons for the first time since 2014 and 2015. As the Eagles prepare for their fourth season under Head Coach Kevin Lewis, Aldridge is a key piece to what appears to be a very bright future.
