Biography

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2025)
Hernandez earned All-Citrus Conference honors for the second straight season as a sophomore. A second-team selection and a team captain, Hernandez hit .329 with 20 RBIs. For the second year in a row, Hernandez led the team in runs scored (45) and stolen bases (22). She had her second career four-hit game against Indian River State College on Feb. 25. Against South Georgia State College on Jan. 25, Hernandez tied a career-high with three RBIs in the first game of the doubleheader. She set a new career-high with three stolen bases in the second. Hernandez finished the season with 13 multi-hit games. 

FRESHMAN SEASON (2024)
Named a team co-captain before the year, Hernandez appeared in all 52 games for Polk State as a freshman. The team's lead-off hitter and starting shortstop, Hernandez was named a first-team All-Citrus Conference performer. She .420 – good for eighth in the FCSAA – with 22 RBIs. Hernandez led Polk State in several other categories, including hits (58), runs (42), walks (33), stolen bases (16), triples (3), on-base percentage (.532), and slugging percentage (.529). Hernandez had 17 multi-hit games for Polk State in 2024. Hernandez had a career day for Polk State in a 17-10 win over Tallahassee Community College on Jan. 27, finishing 4-for-5 with four runs scored and three RBIs.

BIO:
Born in Puerto Rico, Nayeli Hernandez is the daughter of Usiel Hernandez and Jenny Almenas. She has two siblings: Usiel Hernandez-Almenas and Yulieni Hernandez. Hernandez played at Osceola County High School where she helped the Kowboys win the district championship. She was also recognized as her team MVP, first-team All-Orange Belt Conference, and won an OBC Gold Glove winner. She played travel ball for Lady Dukes Fredy and the Florida Thunderbolts. When she's not on the softball diamond, Hernandez enjoys playing video games.
