Florida SouthWestern State proves too much for Eagles, 111-56

Box Score FORT MYERS — It was just one of those nights for Polk State Basketball. Little went right as the Eagles fell at Florida SouthWestern State College on Tuesday night, 111-56.
 
The Buccaneers scored the game's first 10 points and never looked back. Florida SouthWestern led 54-21 at halftime and by as many as 58 points in the second half.
 
Polk State shot just 26% from the field compared to Florida SouthWestern State, which shot 55%. The Buccaneers were a stellar 11-for-20 from beyond the arc. Polk State finished with just three assists and turned the ball over 19 times.
 
George Pridgett and Kenny Burns each finished with 14 points to pace the Eagles. Leading seven players in double figures for Florida SouthWestern were Bradley Douglas and Tyson Brown. Brown also collected a game-high 10 rebounds.
 
With the loss, Polk State falls to 4-4 on the season. The Eagles will remain on the road to face State College of Florida-Manatee on Friday night. Polk State defeated the Manatees 71-65 when the teams met in Winter Haven for the Eagles' home opener on Nov. 8.
