WINTER HAVEN – For local students looking for plans on Saturday, Polk State Basketball has them covered.

For the Citrus Conference showdown against Indian River State College, Polk State is offering free admission to students of all ages and grade levels who show a student ID as part of the Polk County Student Appreciation Game. They will also receive free hot dogs.

The 2 p.m. contest will be a pivotal one as the Eagles and Pioneers jockey for position in the conference and a spot in the FCSAA Tournament. Polk State will enter the game with an overall record of 10-9.

Each season, Polk State hosts a handful of promotional games to show appreciation and to foster community support. The Eagles held their annual Blackout Game last week against Florida SouthWestern State College.

"We're a program that prides itself on our relationship with the community," Head Coach Brandon Giles said. "This is a great opportunity for young people, local youth clubs, and families to come out and enjoy what will be a very entertaining basketball game. Hopefully we'll even have some future Eagles in the stands."
