Box Score FORT MYERS — Polk State Basketball will return home still in search of its first Citrus Conference win. Florida SouthWestern State College ran away from the Eagles on Wednesday evening, 75-65.
Ty Owens scored seven of the 12 points for Polk State (12-6, 0-4 Citrus), which started strong. The Eagles led 14-11 before an 8-0 run put the Buccaneers ahead to stay.
By halftime, the FSW lead had ballooned to 41-29. Polk State was unable to cut the deficit to single digits until the final minute.
It was another tough shooting night for Polk State, which finished just 36% from the field and 3-for-17 from deep. The Eagles were also plagued by 20 turnovers. FSW shot 46% from the field.
Jimmy Cami led Polk State with 18 points, eight rebounds and two blocks off the bench. Owens added 10 points in the defeat.
Isaiah McAdams gave the Eagles a nice early spark, finishing with seven points on 3-for-4 from the floor.
Jordan Brown chipped in with eight points and seven rebounds. Eugene Alvin led Florida SouthWestern with a game-high 20 points.
After suffering its first four losses each by three points or less, the Eagles have now lost consecutive games by double digits. They'll try to get back on track on Saturday at home against Santa Fe College.
