Box Score FORT PIERCE — Getting its first Citrus Conference road win required a total team effort from Polk State Basketball on Saturday. The Eagles were up for the challenge with a 93-67 rout of Indian River State College.
Four Eagles finished in double figures and five scored at least nine points. Up 40-38 at halftime, Polk State outscored the Pioneers 53-29 in the second half to turn a close game into a blowout.
Ty Owens led the Eagles (14-7, 2-5 Citrus) with 21 points.
Jordan Brown added 15 points.
Jimmy Cami and
Kellen Cashman each scored 14 points in the victory. Aleksander Mitrovic led Indian River with 20 points.
The 93 points is the most for Polk State in conference play this season. With the victory, the Eagles also eclipsed last season's win total with nine games still remaining.
Polk State will get an extended rest before hosting No. 25 Eastern Florida State College next Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
