Box Score 2 AVON PARK — Polk State Softball will take a six-game winning streak into the month of February. The Eagles passed their first true road test of the year with flying colors, completing the doubleheader sweep of South Florida State College with a pair of five-inning run-rule victories on Thursday.
Polk State needed less than 90 minutes to take the the first game, 11-0. The Eagles blew things open with eight runs in the second inning, highlighted by
Chelsi Rae' Hebert's team-leading third home run of the season — a two-run blast.
Polk State tacked on with two more in the third and another in the fifth. In the circle,

Tessa Anderson, and
Avery Curtis combined to allow just five hits.
Hebert,
Natalie Hiles,
Jamie Reinhardt, and
Rylee Hartnell each finished with two RBIs. Hiles, Hebert, and
Leia Hurst each finished with two hits. Hartnell,
Nayeli Hernandez, and
Savanah Ford all scored twice. Ava Matrascia had two of the five hits for the Panthers.
In the second game, the Eagles set a new season-high for runs in an 18-3 victory.
The offense picked up right where it left off with four runs in the first. RBI triples from
Karyna Lewis and
Silvia Franzoni bookended an RBI single from Hebert. Savanah Jacobs added an RBI groundout later in the inning.
Polk State (7-2) blew things open with 12 runs in the fourth inning. At one point, Polk State put together seven straight hits.
The Eagles finished with nine hits in the frame, including four for extra bases. After three straight singles,
Jamie Glassford,
Joyleen Vidal, and Reinhardt hit back-to-back-to-back doubles. Lewis added a two-run triple — her second triple of the night — to cap the big inning.
Ford capped the scoring for Polk State with a two-run single in the fifth. Aziyia Patterson broke up the shutout for the Panthers with a three-run home run in the bottom of the inning.
All 11 Polk State players to bat had a hit in the nightcap. As a team, the Eagles finished with 17 hits. Lewis finished 2-for-2 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Reinhardt was 3-for-3 with two runs scored.
Ford, Hebert, Franzoni, Jacobs,
Sarah Sosa, and Glassford each finished with two RBIs. From the circle, Reinhardt allowed just four hits with no walks and three strikeouts in four shutout innings to earn the win.
During Polk State's winning streak, the Eagles have not allowed more than three runs in any game with three wins coming by run-rule. Polk State and South Florida State will meet again on Tuesday for a doubleheader in Winter Haven.
