Box Score 2 DAYTONA BEACH – The road continued to be unkind to Polk State Softball in Citrus Conference contests on Tuesday. The Eagles could find little offense as they managed just one hit for the day and were swept in a doubleheader by No. 11 Daytona State College.

Polk State dropped the first game, 9-2. The Eagles managed just a hit in the contest, but did briefly lead.

Down 1-0 in the top of the second,
Chelsi Rae' Hebert got things started with a lead-off single. After a pair of Daytona State errors on a grounder hit to second by
Leia Hurst, the Eagles had two runners in scoring position with nobody out.
Makenzie Foster and
Silvia Franzoni followed with back-to-back RBI groundouts to give Polk State a 2-1 lead.

The Falcons drew even with a run in the bottom of the inning before taking the lead with three runs in the fourth. Gabby Giugliano's two-run home run put Daytona State ahead for good. Giugliano finished with three RBIs in the win while Gissel Morales was 3-for-3 with two runs scored.
Daytona State wasted no time seizing control in the second game as it cruised to a 9-0 victory.

Kaylee Martineau threw a five-inning perfect game in the run-rule victory. She struck out the side for the Falcons in the first inning to set the tone. Martineau finished with seven strikeouts.
Daytona State pushed across six runs in the bottom of the inning. The Falcons were aided by three walks and a pair of Polk State errors.
Hope Barnett finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored.
Dee Allen finished with a pair of strikeouts for the Eagles.

Now just 1-5 in conference road games this season and 3-7 overall in true road contests, Polk State (16-15, 3-9 Citrus) will play six of its next eight games at home. The Eagles will host St. Petersburg College for a doubleheader on Saturday.
