Box Score 2 MIAMI – Polk State Softball was unable to bring a victory home from its long trip to South Florida on Thursday. The Eagles were swept by No. 8 Miami Dade College in a doubleheader.
A seven-run fourth inning for Miami Dade did in the Eagles in the first game on Thursday. Polk State fell 8-3 to open the day.
Polk State led 2-0 early behind an RBI double from
Jamie Reinhardt in the first inning that scored
Nayeli Hernandez and a solo home run from
Leia Hurst in the top of the fourth. Things, however, unraveled in the bottom of the inning.

Hurst scored her second run of the day on an RBI single from
Veronica Fernandez in the fifth. Hurst and

The Sharks needed just five innings to collect an 8-0 run-rule victory in the second game.
Mito finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBIs in that one. That included a three-run home run to end the game in the bottom of the fifth. Gabriela Trinoski was 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored, and two RBIs.
Reinhardt had two of the three hits for the Eagles (19-20, 6-14 Citrus Conference). Franzoni had the only other hit.
