DAYTONA BEACH – Polk State Basketball has endured one heartbreaking loss after another over the last six weeks, but that was not the case on Wednesday night. At No. 9 Daytona State College, the Eagles suffered their most lopsided loss of the season, 107-63.
The Falcons scored the game's first 17 points and never looked back in Wednesday's contest. The game was more than five minutes old before
Eric Dailey scored to get Polk State (4-12, 0-3 Citrus Conference) on the board.
The Eagles were dominated statistically as well. Daytona State shot 54% from the field to 40% for Polk State. The Falcons went a remarkable 16-for-28 from beyond the arc. The Falcons also held a 46-25 rebounding advantage.
On a night where not much went right for Polk State, Dailey had a solid night, finishing 6-for-11 from the field for a team-high 16 points.
Isaiah McCray added 11 points but on just 2-for-10 shooting.
Tre Jackson scored 10 points on 3 of 4 from the field in the loss. Polk State center
Harold Lee set career-highs with eight points, six rebounds and two blocks.
Noah Mendy led all five Daytona State starters in double figures with 18 points. Mendy didn't miss a shot, going 5-for-5 from the field, 4-for-4 from deep and 4-for-4 from the foul line. Ryan Bewley (14 points, 10 rebounds) and Tyrese Lacey (10 points, 10 assists) each had double-doubles in the win.
Following their 10th straight loss, the Eagles will return home for their only contest at the Health Center in January. Polk State hosts Indian River State College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
