WINTER HAVEN — Polk State Basketball began Head Coach Marreese Speights' era with a bang on Friday night. The Eagles rolled to a 104-40 victory over Warner University JV in the season opener.

Polk State (1-0) wasted no time seizing control. The Eagles shot 57% from the field in the first half and raced to a 45-6 lead before taking a 53-11 advantage into the locker room.

Polk State cooled down a bit in the second half but still finished with 51 points over the final 20 minutes. The Eagles hit triple digits on Promise Udemezue's 3-pointer with 2:30 remaining.

Eric Dailey led five Eagles in double figures with 17 points on 7-for-12 shooting. Tammar Brown made all five of his field goal attempts, finishing with 12 points.

Jaylon Brown, Tre Jackson, and Jayden Dixie each added 10 points in the win. Ethan Simon led the Eagles with 12 rebounds. Siled Morris and Elijah Knight each had six points for the Lions.

Fresh off a 64-point win, Polk State will have a short turnaround as Coach Speights tries to double his win total on Saturday afternoon. It will host Florida College JV at 2 p.m.
