SOPHOMORE SEASON (2025)
The Opening Day starter for Polk State, Echols enjoyed a breakout sophomore season. Echols finished the year with a 4-3 record and 3.44 ERA in 14 appearances. Echols posted 61 strikeouts in his team-leading 68 innings of work. A first-team All-Citrus Conference selection, Echols threw his only career complete game -- a three-hit shutout -- a 1-0 win over Seminole State College of Florida on April 19. Echols tied a career-high with seven strikeouts on three occasions.Â
FRESHMAN SEASON (2024)
Echols made 17 appearances as a freshman -- all in relief. He posted a 2-0 record and 9.92 ERA. Echols led the team in strikeouts per nine innings with 17.63. He fanned 32 batters in 16.1 innings of work. Echols' first career win came over Warner University (B) on March 19.Â
BIO:
Echols played for Head Coach Jeff Bray at Freedom High School. During his playing time at Freedom, Echols was the top pitcher in the district, striking out 79 batters in more than 48 innings. He also posted a fielding percentage of .935. Born to Matt and Julie Echols on Feb. 26, 2005, Echols has a brother named Blake. He is a fan of the Cleveland Guardians and Boston Red Sox pitcher Walker Buehler. Echols enjoys the TV show
Outer Banks, steak and alfredo, vacationing in the Florida Keys, fishing, boxing, going to the gym, working on cars, music, ping pong, and pickleball.
