SOPHOMORE SEASON (2025)
As a sophomore, Long transitioned from closer to a starter. For much of the season, he was the FCSAA leader in strikeouts, finishing with 67 for the year. Long finished his final season at Polk State with a record of 3-5 with a 4.44 ERA in 50.2 innings. He finished third on the team in innings pitched and wins. Long threw a career-high seven innings in a win over Miami Dade College on Feb. 27. He struck out a career-high nine batters in three straight starts against State College of Florida, Miami Dade, and Hillsborough Community College from Feb. 20 through March 6. 

FRESHMAN SEASON (2024)
As a freshman, Long took home both Citrus Conference and FCSAA Fireman of the Year honors in addition to being named first-team All-Citrus Conference. For the year, Long posted a 4-1 record and 3.40 ERA. Long led the FCSAA with 10 saves. He finished with 45 strikeouts in 45 innings. Long picked up his first career win in a 3-2 victory over State College of Florida on Feb. 24. 

BIO:
Long played for Greg Olsen at Calvary Christian High School and was part of the 3A state championship team in 2023 – his fondest high school memory. Nicknamed “Bully,” Long was born July 7, 2004, to Terry and Cathy Long. He has four sisters: Jenna, Cate, Makenna, Jordan, and Samantha; and one brother named Andrew. A fan of the Chicago White Sox and pitcher Gerrit Cole, Long enjoys fishing, boating, and going to the beach. He likes the show Psych, movie Tombstone, eating at Ocean Prime, and vacationing at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
