Biography

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2025)
As a sophomore in 2025, Johnson was named a second-team All-Citrus Conference selection. Johnson finished the season with a 5-7 record and 3.30 ERA. Johnson finished as the FCSAA leader with six saves. He became the first Polk State player to lead the team in wins and saves since Billy McKay in 2019. Johnson finished with 37 strikeouts in 43.2 innings of work. He was second on the team with 24 appearances. Johnson threw a career-high 4.2 innings against Seminole State College of Florida on April 19.

FRESHMAN SEASON (2024)
Johnson appeared in 18 games, including four starts, as a freshman, posting a 2-1 record and 3.24 ERA in 33.1 innings. He struck out 32 batters. Johnson picked up his first career win by throwing four shutout innings without allowing a hit in a 12-4 win over South Florida State College on Feb. 7.

BIO:
In high school, Johnson played for Head Coach Zach Roper at East Lake High School. During his senior year, Johnson finished with an 0.45 ERA while being named Pinellas County 6A Player of the Year. Johnson earned seven wins in 27 appearances with 80 strikeouts. He is the son of Chris Johnson and Dawn Johnson. His brother Brian Johnson played on Polk State’s 2012 FCSAA championship and JUCO World Series team. Nicknamed “Freight Train,” Johnson is a fan of the Atlanta Braves and of pitcher Zack Wheeler. Johnson enjoys the movie Major League, Mexican food, vacationing in Georgia, and golfing. His fondest high school memory is his first varsity start.
