McClellan arrived at Polk State prior to the 2025 season with seven years of coaching experience. After getting her coaching start on the travel circuit with the Windermere Wildfire – a program for which she once played – McClellan spent three years at the high school level as Head Coach at Foundation Academy in Winter Garden.
A native of Windermere, McClellan comes from an athletic family. The only daughter of three children to Steve and Shannon McClellan, the Polk State assistant played baseball until she was 12 years old before making the natural transition to softball.
Her father Steve, a college baseball first baseman at the University of Central Florida, coached McClellan up until high school. McClellan graduated in 2015 from Olympia High School in Orlando, where she would be recognized as a three-year All-Central Florida selection and a two-time team MVP.
Following a stellar high school career, McClellan spent five seasons at East Carolina University, an NCAA Division I program in Greenville, N.C. A power-hitting first baseman, McClellan was a four-year starter for the Pirates from 2017 to 2020. She finished her collegiate career with 31 home runs, including a team-leading 10 as a redshirt junior during the 2019 season.
During her time at Foundation Academy, McClellan guided the Lions to three straight winning seasons and three straight FHSAA 2A playoff appearances. That included a state semifinal appearance in 2023.
In addition to softball, McClellan's other passion is for dogs. She has two rescue dogs – a Jack Russell terrier named Cash and a pit bull named Susan. Polk State is her first college coaching job. She works with hitters and infielders.Â
