Polk State College

Hector Velez enters his first season with Polk State Soccer. He will serve as special projects coach. Velez helps the program with planning for road trips, equipment management, and media.

A native of Puerto Rico, Velez previously played multiple positions at Johnson University, an NCAA Division II program in Kissimmee, before graduating in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in Sports and Fitness Leadership. Velez played under Polk State Head Coach Dee Shivraman, who served as an assistant at Johnson.

Velez has volunteered as a high school coach for the last four years at Southland Christian Academy in Kissimmee. In 2022, he helped the boys’ team win a district championship.
