Biography
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2025)
A team captain, Alexia Ortiz went out with a bang as a sophomore, earning second-team All-Citrus Conference honors. Ortiz played in all 23 matches for the Eagles with 22 starts and in 76 total sets. Ortiz was among Polk State's leaders in virtually every major category and finished as the team leader and second in the FCSAA by averaging 0.61 service aces per set -- the highest average for an Eagle in four years. Ortiz ranked second on the team, averaging 1.91 kills per set and 1.73 assists per set. She also averaged 1.44 digs per set. At Pasco-Hernando State College on Aug. 23, Ortiz narrowly missed her second career triple-double, finishing with 11 kills, a season-high 13 digs and nine assists. Ortiz hit double digits in kills five times, including a season-high 16 kills against Eastern Florida State College on Oct. 1 and Hillsborough Community College on Oct. 11 -- both wins. In the regular season finale, Ortiz set career-highs with seven aces and 26 assists as the Eagles swept Santa Fe College to clinch an FCSAA Tournament berth. She led Polk State with 10 kills against Daytona State College in the FCSAA Tournament quarterfinals on Nov. 7.
FRESHMAN SEASONÂ (2024)
Ortiz Muñoz proved to be pivotal piece for Polk State as a freshman, starting all 17 matches. Ortiz Muñoz ranked second on the team in kills per set (2.33) and third in assists per set (1.67). Ortiz Muñoz enjoyed a career night in a win over St. Johns River State College on Sept. 4, finishing with 22 kills and five service aces -- both career-highs. Ortiz Muñoz became the first Polk State player in more than a decade to record a triple-double when she finished with 10 kills, 14 digs, and 14 assists against Eastern Florida State College in the home finale on Oct. 21.
BIO:
The daughter of Jose Ortiz Reyes and Maria Munoz Colon, Ortiz Muñoz comes to Polk State as an accomplished high school player. She was MVP of the Power League Classic. When she's not on the court, Ortiz Muñoz enjoys baking and the outdoors. She has two older sisters -- Nileny and Liz. Her sister Liz (Myrnaliz Perez) was an NJCAA Division II national champion at Coffeyville Community College in 2018. Ortiz Muñoz has played volleyball since the age of 7.
