German Del Valle is in his 12th year as head coach of the Polk State College volleyball program.
Although the 2014-15 Eagles ended the regular season with a record of 15-21, they finished second in the Suncoast Conference. That earned them a berth in the FCSAA state tournament, where they won the District P Championship.
With that win, they advanced to the NJCAA Division 1 Volleyball National Championship for the first time in Polk State history. The Eagles entered the 16-team tournament seeded 12th and finished at number 10.
In his first year as head coach, in the 2012-2013 season, Del Valle's Eagles placed third in the Suncoast Conference with a 22-12 record.
The team advanced to the state tournament for the second year in a row, and the Eagles finished fifth in the state.
He served as an assistant coach in the 2011-2012 season, in which the Eagles won their first Suncoast Conference championship and reached the state tournament for the first time in their history. They finished third in the state.
Under Del Valle in the 2012-2013 season, Eagles Stephanie Harris and Rachel Aguilar were All Suncoast Conference First Team selections.
Grace Vega, Rosmerli Carillo, Ileanushka Maldanado and Lakelia Cooper were Suncoast Conference Second Team selections.
In the 2011-2012 season, DiannMarie Rivera-Romero and Aguilar were named to the Suncoast Conference First Team.
Under Del Valle, Rachel Aguilar has signed with Oklahoma Baptist University and Ilea Maldonado has signed with Tennessee State University.
A native of Puerto Rico, Del Valle played at Vocational High School of Trujillo Alto, where he was recognized as a leader.
He coached at Trujillo Alto as well as at the club and semiprofessional volleyball levels.
He was named athletic director at Baptist High School in Carolina, Puerto Rico.
In 2005, Del Valle served as an assistant at Rollins College.
He spent two years as co-director and head coach at Champions Volleyball Club in Orlando. There he led his 15-and-under team to a gold medal in the USA Volleyball Junior Olympics in Dallas in 2008.
In 2008, Del Valle formed the Top Select Volleyball Academy in Orlando, where he serves as director and coach.
In 2012, he led his 18-and-under team to a gold medal in the USA Volleyball Junior Olympics.
Del Valle was recognized as the USA Volleyball Florida Region Coach of the Year for the 17-18 division.
He is USA Volleyball Cap 1 certified.
