Box Score WINTER HAVEN, Fla.- Second half woes continued to plague Polk State Basketball on Saturday afternoon, as the Eagles fell to Hillsborough Community College, 85-73.
With the game tied 65-65 with 7:16 remaining in the second half, the Hawks (16-7, 5-5 Citrus) ended the contest on a 20-8 run, while the Eagles (12-12, 3-7 Citrus) made just a single field goal.to close out the game from that point.
Polk also struggled at the free throw line, where it shot 64.5% (20-for-31), while HCC was 78.8% (28-for-33) at the charity stripe.
Freshman point guard 
Ty Owens shot 4-for-5 from three-point range to lead the way for the Eagles with 19 points and dished out three assists. Sophomore forward 
Moses Gordon scored a season-high 13 points, shooting 5-for-9 from the field.
Freshman shooting guard 
Malachi Stevens shot 3-for-4 from behind the arc to propel his 13-point outing. Sophomore guard 
Dominick Nelson scored all 10 of his points at the free throw line.
Hillsborough was led by sophomore guard Dominic Gooden, who scored 32 points.
The Eagles look to bounce back with another Citrus Conference clash on Tuesday night at St. Petersburg College. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.Â
