Box Score BABSON PARK – Polk State Volleyball has yet to play its first home match of the season, but a return to Polk County did the Eagles good on Tuesday night. Polk State picked up its first win with a 3-0 sweep of Warner University JV.
The Eagles (1-1) didn't feel much resistance until the third set. After winning the first two sets by 25-11 and 25-12 scores, Polk State put the match away with a hard-fought 25-22 victory in the third.
For the second match in a row, Alexia Ortiz Munoz recorded a double-double. She finished with a team-high 11 kills to go with 15 assists.
Sofia Sanchez led the Eagles with 18 assists.
Isabella Pedrosa (11) and
Ella Lopez (10) each finished in double figures in digs. Lopez led Polk State with four service aces. Pedrosa's seven kills was good for second on the team.
The win for Polk State is the first under Head Coach Jessica Beal. The teams will meet again on Monday for the Eagles' home opener and the lone non-conference home match. The start time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
