Box Score GAINESVILLE — Polk State Volleyball's season will continue into November. With several players battling illness and the season on the line, the Eagles clinched the final spot in the FCSAA Tournament with a sweep of Santa Fe College on Wednesday night.
With the final postseason spot at stake, Polk State (8-14, 3-9 Citrus Conference) refused to be denied. Big runs were the key as the Eagles rolled by scores of 25-21, 25-20 and 25-12.
Polk State trailed 8-7 in the first set before using a 7-1 run to go ahead for good. 
Rezzan Guner had the clinching kill.
In the second set, the Eagles again finished strong. Down 17-14, Polk State closed on an 11-3 run. An attack error by the Saints ended the set.
Santa Fe scored the first four points in the third set, but the Eagles responded with a 20-2 run to kill any hopes of a Saints comeback. 
Wiktoria Soremska had the decisive kill that sent the Eagles to the state tournament and Santa Fe home until 2026.
Marina Santos shined both offensively and defensively, finishing with six kills and 10 digs. 
Alexia Ortiz led the Eagles with 23 assists and seven service aces. 
Sarah Boe Soerenson added five kills.
"I'm proud of the resiliency this team displayed," Head Coach Jessica Beal said. "We've overcome a lot this season, especially this past week. They played for each other and executed the game plan flawlessly. They deserve this win and the postseason run."
With the win, Polk State has clinched the No. 6 seed in the FCSAA Tournament. It will take on third-seeded Daytona State College in the quarterfinals on Nov. 7 in Fort Myers.
