Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN — Polk State Softball salvaged a doubleheader split on Wednesday against Pasco-Hernando State College.
The Eagles overcame an early deficit to take the nightcap in run-rule fashion, 13-5. The Eagles put up five-run frames in the second and sixth innings.
Down 3-0 early,
Chelsi Rae' Hebert's FCSAA-leading sixth home run ignited the five-run second.
Silvia Franzoni and
Karyna Lewis had RBI doubles in the frame. After the Bobcats tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the fourth, Polk State (9-4) went ahead for good on
Jamie Reinhardt's RBI double to jumpstart a three-run bottom of the fourth.
Polk State drew four RBI walks in the sixth to end things. Franzoni finished with three RBIs. Reinhardt and Hebert each had two hits and two runs scored. Reinhardt and
Nayeli Hernandez each finished with two RBIs.
From the circle, Reinhardt allowed just a hit in 2.1 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win.
The first game was tough all around for Polk State as the Eagles fell, 5-1.
Polk State finished with four errors in the field, leading to a pair of unearned runs for the Bobcats. At the plate, the Eagles struggled to figure out pitcher Sydney Klein, who scattered seven Polk State hits while allowing just a run.

Dee Allen pitched well but gave up her first earned run of the season and took her first loss. Pasco-Hernando didn't put up any crooked numbers but scored in five of the seven innings.
Down 4-0, Polk State broke up the shutout in the sixth when
Savannah Jacobs scored on a wild pitch. Jacobs had two hits in the loss. Hannah Gniadek homered for the Bobcats.
Polk State will get a lengthy rest before making the return trip to New Port Richey to take on Pasco-Hernando State College on Tuesday. Game times are set for 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
