WINTER HAVEN — For the months of April and May, Polk State Head Volleyball Coach Jessica Beal will offer local youth the opportunity to sharpen their skills as they learn from those who play and coach at the collegiate level.
With the exceptions of April 13 and April 20, the Polk State Spring Youth Volleyball League will be held on Sunday evenings from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. from April 6 through May 25. Sessions are open to boys and girls from ages 8 through 14. The cost is $50 per session or $135 up front for three sessions.
Polk State Spring Youth Volleyball League

Dates: Sundays from April 6-May 25, 2025 (Closed April 13 and 20)
Time: 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Where: Health Center at Polk State College, 999 Ave. H NE, Winter Haven, FL 33880

During the Spring Youth League, players will spend the first hour receiving individualized instruction from Polk State players and coaches. The final 90 minutes will be spent playing full 6-on-6 matches.
The camp is hosted by Beal, who was a two-sport athlete at Seton Hill University in Pennsylvania. Beal is entering her second season as Polk State Head Coach and has seven years of coaching experience. Previously an assistant at Ottawa University, an NAIA program in Kansas, Beal was instrumental in helping the team reach the 2023 national tournament and finish nationally ranked.
Polk State College's coaches host camps to engage the local community and foster young athletes' interest in sports and higher education. While the camps are hosted by individual coaches rather than the College, their location on campus introduces participants to the idea of higher education and the opportunities available at Polk State.
"This is a great opportunity to work with college athletes and coaches to build confidence, become more fundamentally sound, and ultimately become better players," Beal said. "This league is great for more seasoned and skilled players, for youngsters just learning the game, or for those looking to try something new."
