Box Score FORT PIERCE – For the second time in as many matches, Polk State Volleyball needed just three sets to get the job done. The Eagles dominated Indian River State College in a 3-0 victory on Tuesday night.

Polk State didn't allow more than 20 points in any set. The Eagles have now won consecutive matches for the first time since Sept. 13 and 15.

"At Polk State, it's never been about how we start in August or September," Head Coach German Del Valle said. "It's always been about how we finish in October and November. I like the way we're playing right now."

Andreina Aybar ended each of the first two sets with blocks at the net. After a 25-18 victory for Polk State in the opening set, the second would turn out to be the closest.

Indian River jumped out to a 12-9 lead early, but the Eagles (8-9, 4-5 Suncoast Conference) closed on a 16-8 run. Aybar's block sealed the 25-20 victory and gave Polk State a commanding 2-0 lead.

Polk State rolled to a 25-13 win in the third and final set.  Andrea Da Silva put the match to rest with the final kill.

Aiding in the Eagles' second straight win was sophomore defensive specialist Aitza Cruz. One of the top servers in the country last season, Cruz made her season debut on Tuesday night after missing Polk State's first 16 matches to injury.   

"Getting Aitza back for the final stretch of the season is going to be huge for us," Del Valle added. "She's a great player and her experience in big matches is going to be valuable. We're very excited to have her back."

Polk State will remain on the road as it tries to even its record on Thursday at Eastern Florida State College. The match is slated to begin at 6 p.m.
