Polk State Basketball to play 30 regular season games during 2022-23 season

WINTER HAVEN -- Fresh off its first FCSAA Tournament appearance of the Brandon Giles era, Polk State Basketball is slated to play 30 regular season games during the 2022-23 season.

Throughout the course of the season, the Eagles will play three neutral-site tournaments and invitationals, including the Chipola Classic in Marianna, Fla. to open the 2022-23 campaign. Polk State will face Pensacola State College in the Nov. 4 opener before taking on host and reigning FCSAA Division I champion Chipola College the following day.

Polk State's home opener and the first of 10 home games takes place on Nov. 8 against State College of Florida-Manatee. State College of Florida-Manatee's campus is where the Eagles will spend their Thanksgiving holiday with three games against teams from Georgia in three days as part of the Manatee Classic. Polk State will take on Georgia Highlands College on Nov. 24, Albany Technical College on Nov. 25, and Gordon State College on Nov. 26.

Polk State will follow the Manatee Classic with four straight road games and six total away from home. The Eagles will take part in the NJCAA Region 8 Shootout on Dec. 10 and 11 in Melbourne with contests against Miami Dade College and Indian River State College, respectively.

Polk State's final game of the 2022 calendar year comes at home against Florida SouthWestern State on Dec. 15. The Eagles open Central Conference play on Jan. 7 at home against Eastern Florida State College.

Polk State's final 15 games will be Central Conference matchups. The Eagles will celebrate Sophomore Night and play their final home game on Feb. 15 against Daytona State College.

Polk State closes conference play and the regular season on the road against St. Petersburg College on Feb. 25.

"I'm extremely excited about the opportunities that sit within our schedule," said Giles, the head coach. "It will look a little different to Eagle fans as we only have 10 home games. However, with the maturity and experience of this 2022-23 roster, I have confidence that a heavy road schedule will be beneficial for this unit as we look to make a push towards a Central Florida Conference championship."

Before the season gets started, Polk State will participate in a pair of jamboree events. The Eagles will be in Tallahassee for a pair of exhibition contests as part of the JUCO Jamboree on Oct. 8 and 9. They'll take part in the Orlando Jamboree – also an exhibition – from Oct. 14-16.
