WINTER HAVEN — Just two days after notching its first Citrus Conference win of the season, Polk State Basketball was unable to close the season with consecutive victories. The Eagles wrapped up the 2025-26 campaign with a 119-92 loss to Eastern Florida State College on Monday night.
Polk State (5-24, 1-15 Citrus) jumped to a 6-2 lead behind 3-pointers from
Marques DaSilva-Romeo and
Tre Jackson. Eastern Florida State answered with a 12-2 run and never trailed again.
The Titans led by double digits for most of the first half. Consecutive baskets by
Eric Dailey and
Ethan Simon late in the first half, however, cut the lead to 50-41. That's the last time that Polk State would be within single digits.
Eastern Florida closed the first half on a 9-0 run. Nick Oliver's 3-pointer at the buzzer gave the Titans a 59-41 lead at halftime. Polk State never got closer than 12 in the second half.
For the game, Eastern Florida shot 51% from the field and 9-for-19 from deep. Sean Register Jr. led Eastern Florida with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Djiby Ly added 22 points on 10-for-11 shooting.
Dailey led Polk State with 24 points and three assists.
Isaiah McCray and Jackson added 19 and 15 points, respectively. Simon finished a rebound shy of a double-double, recording 10 points and nine boards before fouling out.
Monday served as Sophomore Night for Polk State. Sophomores
Jimmy Cami and
Kellen Cashman were honored before the game. Cashman has missed the entire season with a knee injury. Cami finished with six points and five rebounds in his Polk State finale.
It was also the final game for the Eagles under Head Coach Brandon Giles. Giles has resigned to pursue other business ventures. He led Polk State to 119 wins and two FCSAA Tournament appearances over nine seasons.
