Box Score BABSON PARK — A first-half goal was all Polk State Soccer got on Monday night but it was all the Eagles needed. Polk State remained perfect on the young season with a 1-0 victory over Webber International University JV.

Just two days after tying a program record with five goals, Lovelie Pierre was again the source of offense for the Eagles (3-0). Pierre footed home the lone goal in the 25th minute with the assist going to Aleyshka Orellano — her second of the year.

After scoring 16 goals as a freshman in 2022, Pierre already has eight through three matches. The story for Polk State, however, was its defense.

For the second straight match, Ella Sebree shined in goal. The sophomore from Lakeland finished with 11 saves.

"It's hard to choose a player of the game, but for me, it has to be Ella," Head Coach Dee Shivraman said. "She made some great saves on crosses and long-range shots."

After finishing with nine shutouts in 20 matches last season, Polk State already has two in three contests this year. The Eagles have yet to allow a goal on the road.

"It takes all 11 players to play consistently at a high level to put in a good shift," Shivraman added. "Every player who went in gave 100% tonight. We matched up well against their physicality. We probably could have scored a few more, but their defense and keeper were solid."

The road is where Polk State will remain when it visits Ave Maria University JV on Saturday. The Eagles remain unranked but were among a handful of teams to receive votes in the latest NJCAA Poll, released Monday.
