Box Score 2 TAMPA – Polk State Volleyball stayed hot on Friday with a pair of victories at the HCC Hawks Florida Challenge on the campus of Hillsborough Community College. With the wins, the Eagles have now won five straight matches.

Polk State (5-3) lost its first set of the day but bounced back to win the final three sets against Florida State College-Jacksonville for a 3-1 victory. FSCJ didn't score more than 19 points in any of the final three sets.

The Eagles clinched the second and third sets with service errors by the BlueWave before
Crismeyli Rodriguez ended the match with a kill to wrap a 25-15 victory in the fourth set.

Rodriguez had her best performance of the season, finishing with 17 kills and 13 digs while hitting an outstanding .468.
Carolina Guerreiro Cruz added 10 kills.
Irene Mostardini and
Faith Marquis finished with 12 and 10 digs, respectively, in the victory.
Madi O'Sullivan led the way with 34 assists.

Polk State's second match of the day was won in more convincing fashion as the Eagles completed the sweep of Coastal Alabama Community College-South, 3-0. Rodriguez again led the way for Polk State with another double-double, recording 14 kills and 11 digs.

Keionna Mackey finished with 11 kills in the victory while Marquis reached double digits in digs for the second straight match, notching 10. O'Sullivan's 37 assists led the way.

As for the Sun Chiefs, they managed just 37 total points over the three sets, never scoring more than 15 in any set. Polk State finished with 14 service aces, led by Mostardini's six. Rodriguez capped her phenomenal day with four aces.

Polk State will wrap up its stay in Tampa on Saturday with a rematch against No. 15 Monroe College. The Mustangs beat the Eagles in the Battle at the Beach Invitational on Aug. 25 – Polk State's second match of the year. The contest is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
