Box Score WINTER HAVEN — For a set, Polk State Volleyball showed it could trade blows with the reigning national champions. In the end, however, No. 2 Florida SouthWestern State College was too much for the Eagles in a 3-0 contest on Wednesday night.
Throughout the first set, Polk State (4-6, 0-5 Citrus Conference) stayed within striking distance. After trailing 11-6 early in the set, Polk State got as close as two before falling 25-22.
The next two sets came easy for the Buccaneers. FSW closed things out by winning by 25-10 and 25-9 scores.
Deyja Tshibangu led Polk State with eight kills in the loss while
Isabella Pedrosa paced the Eagles with 10 digs and two service aces.
Sofia Sanchez led the way with 11 assists to go with seven digs.Â
Polk State is still looking for its first Citrus Conference win. The Eagles will try to find it on Saturday when they head to Daytona Beach to face No. 17 Daytona State College.
