DAYTONA BEACH --Â As the FCSAA Tournament gets underway on Friday, five Polk State Soccer players will play their semifinal match with All-Region 8 accolades.
Midfielder
Noemi Casique and defender
Madison Caustic were each selected to the first team. Midfielder
Dylan Fernandez, defender
Grayce Kidwell, and goalkeeper
Leona Kraus were each named second-team All-Region 8.
Casique has powered the Polk State offense this season. A native of Davenport, Casique leads the Eagles and ranks fifth in Region 8 with 11 goals this season. Her team-leading 26 points and four assists are each tied for fourth in the region.
While Casique has been the driving force behind the Polk State offense, Caustic, Kidwell, and Kraus have sparked the defense. Caustic has one goal this season. Kraus leads Region 8 with 77 saves this season while posting a .720 save percentage.
Fernandez is now a two-time All-Region 8 performer. Fernandez was an honorable mention selection last season. As a sophomore, the Winter Haven native has one goal. She is tied for second on the team and ranks 10th in Region 8 with three assists.
"I'm extremely proud of these five for their hard work and dedication this season," Head Coach Dee Shivraman said. "As a coach, one of the most rewarding things is having your players recognized."
Polk State will be the No. 4 seed in the FCSAA Tournament, which begins tonight at 5:30 p.m. The Eagles will take on Daytona State College, the top seed, tournament host, and FCSAA regular season champion.
