Polk State Soccer falls at Daytona State in FCSAA semifinal

DAYTONA BEACH — For Polk State Soccer, its season will end in the FCSAA Tournament semifinals for the second year in a row. The Eagles fell to No. 9 Daytona State College on Friday night, 2-0.

Polk State (3-9) was statistically dominated in the contest. The Eagles managed just two shots and just one on goal. Daytona State, on the other hand, had 15 shots and six on goal. The Falcons also held a 7-1 advantage on corner kicks.

Noemi Casique had the lone on-goal shot for the Eagles. Fellow All-Region 8 performer Madison Caustic had the other shot.

The Falcons went ahead for good in the 15th minute on a goal from Shaneil Buckley. Jada Clarke added a goal in the 70th minute. Jimena Castro added an assist for Daytona State.

The FCSAA leader in saves, Leona Kraus finished with four saves for the Eagles. She is the only Polk State freshman to earn All-Region 8 honors this season.

Polk State will finish with a losing record for the first time since 2019. Daytona State will advance to the FCSAA Championship where it will face Eastern Florida State College on Sunday. The Titans defeated Miami Dade College in the first semifinal on Friday.
