Box Score FORT MYERS – As expected, Polk State Volleyball had its work cut out for it on Saturday afternoon. Against No. 2 Florida SouthWestern State College, the reigning national champions, the Eagles fell in straight sets, 3-0.

On Sophomore Day in Fort Myers, the Buccaneers completed the sweep with 25-7, 25-7, and 25-10 victories. Despite playing against the reigning national champions, several Polk State (4-12, 0-11 Citrus Conference) players had commendable individual efforts.

Ella Lopez led Polk State with six kills. Sofia Sanchez paced the Eagles with six digs and seven assists.

Florida SouthWestern State was led by Julija Grubisic Cabo's 10 kills. Camilla Brandalise finished with a match-high 24 assists for the Buccaneers.

Things won't get much easier for Polk State as it closes the regular season on Monday. After visiting No. 2 Florida SouthWestern, the Eagles will wrap up the year against No. 1 Miami Dade College. Match time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
