Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN – Polk State Baseball was swept at home in its doubleheader with Florida SouthWestern State College on Saturday, but that didn't stop the Eagles from securing a berth in the FCSAA Tournament quarterfinals.
Polk State (33-23, 18-15 Citrus Conference) advanced early in the day when Indian River State College topped College of Central Florida in the first game of a doubleheader. The Eagles would fall to Florida SouthWestern State College by scores of 5-1 and 5-3.
In the opening seven-inning contest, Justin Thomas put the Buccaneers ahead for good with a solo home run in the fifth to break a 1-1 tie. Cooper Clapp added a two-run single later in the inning.
Aaron Stelogeannis plated the lone run of the opening game for Polk State, scoring
Jordan Thomas in the third. Thomas had two of the six hits for the Eagles in the loss. The other Thomas in centerfield had three hits for FSW.
Polk State drew first blood in the second game, plating three runs in the first inning.

After scoring twice in the third, FSW went ahead for good with two runs in the fifth. Luca Danos finished 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored for the Buccaneers.
Held scoreless over the final eight innings, Polk State managed just five hits. Stelogeannis had two of those.
Polk State is part of the FCSAA Tournament for the fourth straight year. The Eagles will learn their opponent and destination in the coming days.
